Training for clinicians
WELCOME
Congratulations on taking the first step in starting to use or improving your use of telehealth and online assessment for people with aphasia.
We recommend protecting 1.5 hours to complete this training.
This interactive course contains two blocks of training comprising 7 short modules to help you carry out online assessments. Please complete each training block in one sitting. Your browser will not remember which modules you’ve finished if you leave and come back later.
Module list
Training block 1. Modules 1-4
- How to get ready for online sessions. How to create online meetings and how to prepare yourself and your service user for online sessions.
- How to build rapport online. Information and demonstration of ways to build rapport online. Information and demonstration of ways to build rapport online.
- How to use videoconferencing platform features during online assessments. Description and demonstration of key videoconferencing platform features that are useful during online assessment.
- How to check and record assessment responses. Advice on recording assessment responses when online and how people with aphasia can give their responses.
Training block 2. Modules 5-7
- How to involve helpers to support people with aphasia online. Guidance on who can help, ways to support and how to negotiate these roles.
- How to support people living with severe expressive aphasia online. Ways to modify and use multimodal responses, including use of powered AAC.
- How to manage if things go wrong. Ways to manage tech issues that might occur online and a practical case study to problem solve.
Once completed you can download a CPD certificate.
